_SAC and School Letter Grade Update Please join us as part of SAC (School Advisory Council) and work with us as we bring all our schools to an “A” and meet AYP. Currently, all schools need to make AYP and individual scores are listed below. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are unsure of your child’s specific school. Broward Community Charter School (5315) B Broward Community Charter School West (5403) A Discovery Middle Charter School (5412) B Scheduling Conferences Scheduling a conference with your child’s teacher is VERY easy! Please email teachers directly through Leona Group email or via Engrade. You may also call 954-345-6500 and leave a message. You will be contacted so as to schedule a date and time. Student Progression Plan Teachers will conference with you throughout the year regarding your child’s progress and the requirements for promotion to the next grade level. You may access the entire document through the Broward County School Board website – http://www.broward.k12.fl.us/sbbcpolicies/ Mandatory Retention! Did you know that the state has a MANDATORY retention policy for third grade? Stay informed! Speak with your child’s teacher. Additional information may be found through the School Board website. Hard copies are also available in the office. Policies and Procedures School policy and procedures are found as part of your registration packet, the Parent Information Folder, and published throughout the year. Please do not hesitate to contact the office should you have any questions regarding school policies and procedures. Out-of-Field Out-of-field refers to a teacher in a classroom that may not possess all of their credentials. For example, all teachers MUST be ESOL (English as a Secondary Language) certified. If a teacher is not ESOL certified, but working on it, then they are considered out-of-field. Students will receive letters should their classroom teacher be considered out-of-field. Engrade and Virtual Counselor Third grade and higher use Engrade to report a student’s grades and assignments. Please contact your child’s teacher if you do not have access. Virtual Counselor (VC) is through the School Board and provides you will absence information and testing data. It is a GREAT tool for you. You will need to have your child’s FSI number (contact our Registrar, Mrs. Ali, in writing or email at saliesha.ali@leonagroup.com). McTeacher Night 10/30/2011
Come out Thursday February 16, 2012 from 5pm-8pm to McDonald's at 5741 Coral Ridge Drive and support your school. Meet Ronald McDonald, have your Teacher serve you dinner, earn volunteer hours and enjoy spending time with your friends. You will receive two (2) volunteer hours just for eating dinner. Make sure you bring your receipt so you can have your volunteer form signed. The class with the most participation will win a FREE Happy Meal party sponsored by McDonald's, so make sure you bring the yellow form with you that came home with your child today and make sure it is filled out with your child's Homeroom Teacher's name.
